Auspice training
This is an auspiced training agreement where training is delivered by a third party on behalf of South West TAFE. Some of our courses are offered at auspice training locations. See the mode of delivery section of the course page to see if the location is an auspice training location.
What is auspice training in the VET sector?
The Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) has delivery and assessment guidelines for all VET providers in Australia that TAFEs are regulated under. These guidelines aim to strengthen the quality requirements of all VET providers and to align the provision of VET with educational outcomes. All VET providers must meet the minimum standards. Schools will need to comply with these regulations and minimum standards by SWTAFE policies under an Auspicing agreement. All students will require a USI number to be enrolled.
What is the cost?
SWTAFE charges $300 per student per program for Auspicing. All new programs will be charged a $1,000 new VET DSS program set-up fee, and continuing programs will be charged an $800 fee. If you would like SWTAFE to auspice a VET DSS program in 2026, then all documentation for Auspicing must be submitted to the Auspiced Schools Coordinator by October 2025 for approval.
What are the prerequisites for a VET DSS auspice teacher?
- Current industry experience in the VET DSS program, which they wish to teach
- A qualification in the industry - this can be the same level or a higher qualification/s
- A current vocational teaching qualification – Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116). If the teacher has a Training and Assessment qualification but not TAE40116 course they, the must update their qualification by either:
- units TAELLN411 / TAELLN401 Address adult language and literacy and numeracy skills plus one of the following units TAEASS502 / TAEASS502A / TAEASS502B Design and develop assessment tools.
