Certificate II in Salon Assistant - One Year Program

Thinking of a career in the hair industry and have a passion for hairstyling? This course provides you with a range of skills and knowledge in hair styling and salon services. Learn how to braid hair and perform basic hair styling techniques, shampooing and applying colour.

Duration

33 weeks plus holiday block training

Schedule

One afternoon block of delivery each week, plus holiday block training during term 2 school holidays period.

Prerequisites

Students must provide a USI at the point of applying for this VET DSS program.

How to dry hair to shape
To provide shampoo and basin services
Hair colour product application
How to braid hair

Contribution to the VCE

The Certificate II in Salon Assistant is a non-scored program.  VCE students will receive a unit 1-2 over one year. 

If students would like to continue with Certificate III in Make Up (partial completion) in a second year of VET DSS program they maybe entitled to units 3-4. Please check with your school for more details.

VCE VM students will complete a minimum of 180 nominal hours a year to obtain their senior secondary certificate.


* Please note: If students commence with Certificate II in Salon Assistant in the first year of a VET DSS program and continue with Certificate III in Make Up (partial completion) in a second year of VET DSS program they may be eligible to obtain a unit 1-4 sequence. For more information regarding units 1-4 sequence requirements, please check with your school for more details.
