Certificate II in Building and Construction (partial completion) - SECOND YEAR - Colac Trade Training Centre applicants only

The VCE VET Building Construction course (partial completion of Certificate II in Building & Construction) is designed to provide the skills required for a successful career in building construction. Students are introduced to occupational health and safety procedures, communication, work organisation, plan reading, equipment and tool use.

To ensure course content is relevant and industry-specific, industry is constantly having input into this training package. The course code, title, units, and content may change in the future and you may be enrolled in the new qualification. Further information will be provided on our website, upon enrolment and/or during the course of your training.

Duration

33 weeks plus holiday block

Schedule

One afternoon block of delivery each week, plus holiday block training during term 2 school holidays period.

Prerequisites

Must provide a USI number at point of enrolment

What you learn

The course will prepare students for employment in areas such as carpentry, painting and decorating, wall and ceiling lining, wall and floor tiling, solid plastering and bricklaying

Contributions to VCE units 1-4

Accredited entry level for other TAFE and university course

Partial completion of Certificate II in Building and Construction

Dress code

Solid enclosed footwear - NOT runners (steel capped boots are best)
Cotton clothing - NOT tracksuit pants/No nylon
Long pants - Jeans are ideal but they MUST NOT have frayed edges
Long sleeve shirt or top

Contribution to the VCE

Upon completion of the VCE VET program, students will have achieved credits towards the pre-apprenticeship certificate. Students wishing to complete the entire pre-apprenticeship certificate will need to undertake units beyond the requirements of the VCE VET program.The units in the program have been grouped to form Unit 1-2 and Unit 3-4 sequences for VCE recognition purposes. VCE VM students will complete a minimum of 180 nominal hours a year to obtain their senior secondary certificate.
